Work with us!

Undergraduate Research Assistants

Undergraduate students enrolled at UCI with a strong background in programming and an interest in cognitive science are encouraged to join the lab either as volunteers, for course credits, or for summer fellowships. You do not need to be a cognitive sciences major. We have many projects for students interested in applying their programming or data analysis skills to problems in computational cognitive science. Express your interest using this form.

We are looking for collaborators at all career levels. We are especially seeking motivated researchers with strong technical skills who are interested in working on topics within our current research themes.

Lab Technician (post-bacc)

We will be hiring one full-time or two part-time lab technicians at the post-undergraduate level to begin in January 2025. This role involves building out the technical infrastructure of the lab, including development of software environments for working with large language models, analyzing human neuroimaging data, and writing analysis code. This position requires strong facility with python, unix, and github. You will write experiment and analysis code, and assemble open-source code repositories into projects workflows with best-practices baked in. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of research projects in the lab, attend conferences, and contribute to publications. Research projects include experiments in large language models and fMRI experiments with humans. This is a unique role for those interested jointly studying human brains and artificial neural networks. Interest or background in mechanistic interpretability and AI alignment is a plus. Opportunities to pursue independent research projects and receive mentoring towards graduate school applications or other research roles will be provided. An official job posting will appear here soon, but please reach out by email for inquiries!

Graduate Students

Currently enrolled UCI graduate students interested in collaborating or taking on summer research projects are welcome to contact the lab. We are not currently recruiting new graduate students for next year.

Post-Doctoral Scholars

We are seeking funding to support post-doctoral scholars in the next year. We would be thrilled to write a grant or fellowship application collaboratively with PhD candidates/graduates with shared interests.

Other Collaborators

Please reach out to us if you are an independent researcher interested in developing a research project or grant together within the themes of our lab.
